This Good Friday I ask you to witness the journeys of these kids:Their father killed their mother. The father is in the jail. The children are orphans and yet not legally. Relatives may or may not take care. If they do, they may not have resources to provide for. Unable to access education, branded as children of a killer, still suffering the loss of mother in violence, these children grow up maladjusted to life and society.
Their father committed a crime and is in jail. Mother/grandmother lives but very poor. The children roll beedis all day to earn few rupees. Branded as children of a criminal, poverty stalking their childhood colors, unable to go to school, or if they went, in psychological crisis. For no fault of theirs.
There is a correlation between childhood environment and juvenile delinquency. And we can help change it.
At least for the 200 odd children of prisoners of Palayamkottai Central Prison, Tirunvelli, Tamil Nadu. And here is how:
1. In May-June 2014, Global Network for Equality - GNE is visiting each of these kids to assess and document ground needs of each. Can you contribute money to travel or immediate needs of these kids? Any amount is good. Contact Aravindan Sundar for more info.
2. If you have the heart, can you help the process by visiting kids and documenting needs? Raja Rajendiran will guide you. I will be visiting mid June.
3. It is too much for you. Ok. Pl like GNE fb page and spread the word. Maybe somebody else will be able to help. Everything counts.
